The name “War Binder” originates from the movie “The War Room,” a powerful drama that explores the power of prayer and the effect that it can have on careers, marriages, parenting, and all other areas of our lives. If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s on Starz or your can rent it as well. In the movie, the main character made a “war room” in her closet where she went to pray for her family, also covering the walls with taped pages of scripture and prayers. The movie takes you on a spiritual journey, which is also the purpose of a War binder.
What is a War Binder?
A War binder is a combination of a planner, Bible journaling and scrapbooking all in one. Similar to Bible journaling, you’ll use your binder to inspire and record your journey of faith. Think of a War binder as a “mobile war room” that you can take with you everywhere. This is a wonderful advantage because you never know when you may come across a conversation, sight or experience that will inspire you. The good news is that you don’t need to spend a fortune to create a War binder either.
What’s Included in a War Binder?
You can include anything you like you in your War binder, including sermons or Bible study notes, scripture writing, photos, a monthly verse calendar, daily devotionals, some of your favorite sayings, etc. You’ll come to find that you enjoy looking for inspiration to add to your binder. How to Decorate the War Binder
The possibilities are endless when it comes to decorating a War binder which makes the process a lot of fun and personalizes the experience. You can use, glitter, stickers, washi tape, colored pencils, etc., basically anything you would embellish your Bible journal or scrapbook with. Since it is a binder, you’ll be able to add more pages, photos and create pocket pages, really making it your own.
A friend of mine shared with me that she received a small sized War binder for her birthday.
Her friend embellished the front cover with a beautiful painting she had created, also adding pockets in which she had placed paper pieces of inspiration. It’s beautiful, and my friend carries it with her everywhere.
If you plan on using a binder, pick one up that as clear outer pockets. This way you can personalize it by decorating paper inserts, You can even find inspiring printables online.
Do You Have to Use a Binder?
Although using a binder comes with great advantages you can use just about anything you want including a comp book, notebook, planner or Bible. There’s no need to run out and buy a bunch of stuff to create a binder, especially if you’re not a binder person.
Your War binder will become an indispensable part of your quiet time and a wonderful way to connect with the Lord.
