How did you discover Bible Journaling?
My dear friend, Cyndi told me about it and added me to the Bible Journaling for Beginners group. I am so grateful to her for opening up a new avenue of reading God’s Word.
How has Bible journaling changed you, your life, or your walk with God?
Where do I begin… I’ve been a Christian for almost 50 years. I’ve read the Bible all the way through a few times. I had book knowledge and certain verses and parts would touch my heart but it got to where I was just lukewarm about reading or studying the Bible anymore.
Journaling changed all that.
I’m a visual person. I love arts and crafts of all kinds. By putting the two together, I am actually studying the Word and enjoying it! My spirit is so much more peaceful. I’m actually excited about picking a passage to study. I’m also retaining the info. (Just don’t ask me to memorize. I still stink at that!)
My husband listens to me tell him all about the Biblical Women passages, helps me decide if an idea I have is good, helps me decide on graphics if I can’t decide which one I like best, etc. But I think the best part of all of it is that I feel closer to the Lord. I can hear Him in my heart again and that is beyond thrilling for me. I can’t seem to stop smiling, even when I get irritated, it doesn’t last. You just can’t stay irritated when you’re smiling.
What’s your favorite Bible journaling technique?
I think I love the scrapbook type of journaling. I love to take a graphic and change it to fit my needs. That may be the clothes, maybe an arm in a different position or even meshing two graphics together to make one. I even keep a scrapbook journal for the studies I do that won’t fit in my Bible.
What is one recommendation you have for others who are getting into Bible journaling?
I would have to say that you should never compare your work to the work of someone else. Find a technique you like and make it your own. That way you can’t compare your work because your work is now unique and in a category all by itself.
What else would you like to share:
I think journaling appeals to me in some ways because I have so many health issues that knock me down and keep me in bed. I can journal in bed and it takes my mind off of the pain and puts it on the Lord. I can feel peace wash over me and it will actually ease the pain.
What’s your favorite verse of the Bible and why?
For a long while now I have been leaning on Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – as my favorite Old testament verse. For a New Testament verse, it would be Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. You’ll notice that these two verses are just filled with hope. But they also fill me with the courage I need to persevere on my bad days And last both let me know that the Lord is in charge of my life, He’s got a plan for me and I really can do anything because He will give me the strength to overcome any obstacle I encounter.
Your pages are warm my heart.
Thats so sweet, its nice to get to know you better Georgia Peach ????????
