Welcome back to the Promises of God Podcast, episode number 20. My name is Tracie Rollins. Thank you so much for spending some time with me as we learn and take action on God’s promises in life. This month series is about grace, and we’re working out of the momentum devotional offered by BibleJournalingMinistries.com. It is titled Saved by Grace. You can learn more about Bible journaling with our free 10-day course at BibleJournalingMinistries.com. Today we’re talking about salvation by grace in our verses. Acts 15:10. It says, but we believed we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus. Just as they are. Accepting Salvation as a gift isn’t always easy. It wasn’t easy for me for sure. When I first started on this path. My parents always taught me early on that nothing is free in this world and that everything has a price and to this day their lesson stays with me.
Every time I see a marketing message that reads free gift with purchase free gift when you attend a seminar, free vacation, if you call now, every gift require some purchase or sacrifice, some string attached. So when it came time for me to accept salvation as a gift, it took me a little bit longer. Some people can receive gifts very easily. They naturally are very trustworthy and they, they make them in, and everything’s excellent and right in. And that’s an amazing thing if you can do that. I just, I’m just not like that. I just wasn’t brought up to be like that. So when somebody comes up to me and says, you know, accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, I have to really think about that. My, I grew up with my grandmother who was a huge influence on me and I’ve always had Jesus in my heart.
So as this, as a young child, I never really doubted that Jesus was there. I just, sometime in my, as an adult, somebody asked me, you know, do you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior Do you want to be baptized And I, um, I knew I wanted to be baptized, but I just, I didn’t know it was a decision that I had to really think about it. It was so important to me too when I got baptized as an adult that I would, that I would honestly know
I don’t know. I like to get to know people who are trying to send me things. If they’re trying to send me something, I want to know why. Why would you like me to have that Is that appropriate for me Is it appropriate for my family Is it appropriate for the audience that you want me to share it with I know that I have. I went to a trade show the other day, and I was talking to a guy that was selling these unicorn cards, and they were adorable Unicorn guards the game in a kit, and I was just complimenting him on how tough it is and the crafting industry and help Ravey was for trying this new product. And he said, well, here’s some samples. And I said, oh no, I can’t take your samples from you because I know it’s expensive for you to produce these in my audiences.
Faith-based, these Unicorn cards don’t have any, anything. Faith-based on them. Like I would have to write something in there, I’d have to switch your card around, change it a little bit to make it more faith-based. And um, he said to me, absolutely you should do that. And he’s like, go ahead and do that. And you can do whatever you want with them. In fact, if you just want to give them away, give them away, and I thought that was really funny because I felt like in order to take the sample he was trying to give to me, I should do something with it, either give it away to somebody or do a video or something, but he was just trying to give me a samples, and I think that he was hoping that I would take them home and play with them and then and then tell the world how great they are, but I wouldn’t take them because I just don’t like to take things.
Number one that doesn’t apply to my life where my audience or my friends or my family. It just seems wrong to take things and maybe not wrong, but perhaps a waste of money or a waste of time or a waste of space. I’m not really sure. It’s kind of one of those things I probably should think more about, but I definitely hesitated to take the gift that he was trying to give me. So I talked to him a little bit more. Got To know him a little bit more and in the end we talked about how he might want to create some cards that are faith-based that he could sell and his kids and I and it was just a great conversation and after I got to know him a little better, it was a lot easier to receive his, the cards and of course I do a video for on them and gave the extra ones he gave away to me.
We gave them away and then everybody’s having fun with the giveaways. We do giveaways on youtube and facebook, and everybody loves the giveaways, and so it’s so fun to do them. It makes everyone happy and smiles. I like to do them, but I didn’t want to do a giveaway and give them away. I wanted others to be able to help him and in his journey as well. So it was just. I guess the point is this, that I’m trying to say is for some people salvation by grace is hard and it’s not as easy as it is for other people and that’s okay. If you are having a hard time accepting the self, salvation by grace and you need to pray about it, or you need to read more about the Bible, or you need to investigate more, you need to talk to people, do that. Do what you need to do. Once you understand who God is and who Jesus is, the
The only thing in my life that I have genuinely ever received that had no strings attach his salvation by grace. Jesus purchased my salvation and years through the sacrifice that he did on the cross. He paid the price of our sins, and by His grace, we are saved. This is indeed a free gift. The only thing you’re required to do is accept the gift by faith, so this week, ask herself if you’ve truly accepted the free gift of salvation and if you haven’t asked yourself what’s holding you back and then take action to start working towards that acceptance of salvation by grace, so this week ask herself if you’ve truly accepted the free gift of salvation and if you haven’t asked yourself what’s holding you back and then take action to start figuring out what’s holding you back and start working towards that acceptance of salvation by grace.
And if you’re here today and you haven’t accepted the free gift of salvation, that’s okay. I’m asked God for inviting me into your life. Help him. Ask him to show you how to receive his love. Some of us are hard to accept love maybe we haven’t received loved in the past, and perhaps you’ve been rejected, and you’re hurt, and you don’t know how to receive it. That’s okay. Just pray to him. That’s a great way to do it. If you know God in your life, but you’ve strayed a bit, maybe you’ve been sending, and you feel like he can’t accept you, or he won’t allow you, or he won’t forgive you, that that’s okay to pray to him, ask him to take you back. I promise you he will. He loves his children and he and he will accept you again with open arms. That is for sure. Romans 6:23 says, the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Jesus, our Lord. So turn to him today and confess your sins, follow his will in your life and you will feel the love of Christ that surpasses all understanding. Thank you so much for tuning in today, and I’m excited to see you in the next episode of the Promises of God. Goodbye.
