Good friends are hard to find and keep! Not only does it take time to nurture a relationship, but it can also take emotional, financial, and physical resources too. You can have close friends and acquaintances. You can have friends that are in your family, neighborhood, work, and church. You can also have friends you’ve never met in person before, like those in our Bible Journaling for Beginners Community. There are so many ways to get connected!
I have found tremendous blessings in all of my relationships. The close relationships that I have take work, and I’ll admit that I’m not always good at playing my part. Especially, when I get so engrossed in my work and family duties. Over the last few years, I’ve realized that without margin in my life, it’s difficult to be a good friend to anyone. So, I continue to block off time to meet with friends and nurture those relationships.
The Bible has a lot to say about friendships. We all need friends! In the verses below, you’ll see the work that’s involved. You have to look after, help, listen, and love each other. You have to be there when one falls down. You have to give wise counsel. It’s not easy! Friendship goes both ways. As the old saying goes, “it takes one to know one.”
