According to a Marist poll, the top new year’s resolutions for 2018 are losing weight and being a better person. Of the Americans that were surveyed who planned on making 2018 resolutions, the results showed:

- 12% want to lose weight
- 9% want to exercise more
- 9% want to eat healthier
- 9% want to get a better job
- 7% want to improve their overall health
- 6% want to kick a bad habit like smoking
- 6% want to spend less and save more money
- 30% pick something else
Do you have New Year’s resolutions? Have you considered diving deep into the Word to see what the Bible says about them? I always say that the Bible is life’s instruction manual. Everything I truly NEED is in there. This year, consider looking up Bible verses related to the area (or areas) of your life that you’d like to grow in. Spend some time studying the Word and then Bible journal your thoughts. Here are a few ideas.
Get Healthy or Lose Weight
3 John 2
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers.
Get Out of Debt
Matthew 6:19-21
“Don’t lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don’t break through and steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Spend Less
Matthew 6:19-21
“Don’t lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don’t break through and steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Get Organized
1 Corinthians 14:40
Let all things be done decently and in order.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Take on a New Hobby or Learn Something New
Proverbs 1:5
that the wise man may hear, and increase in learning; that the man of understanding may attain to sound counsel.
Travel
Proverbs 3:23
Then you shall walk in your way securely. Your foot won’t stumble.
My New Year’s Resolutions
Do you want to know what my resolution is? It’s balance. I’d like to get better at balancing my work, ministry, self-care, health, family, community volunteering, and friends. I’m not looking for perfection or an equal balance by any means. I just want to get better at recognizing when one is trending the wrong way, and redirecting when needed. There will be days when I need to work more or do more for the ministry. Other days will involve more family time for sure. The point is to try and give the attention to the areas that needed without neglecting the others.
Right now, I could use a little more focus on my health. Primarily weight loss. So be on the lookout for my next post, which will be on weight loss!
