Friendship is so important! Not only does it take time to nurture a relationship, but it can also take emotional, financial, and physical resources too. You can have close friends and acquaintances. You can have friends that are in your family, neighborhood, work, and church. If you want to know Christ, follow Christ, and grow in Faith, challenge and enrich yourself with great spiritual friendships! You can also have friends you’ve never met in person before, like those in our Bible Journaling for Beginners Community.
When I think about my greatest love, it’s hard to describe. The feelings associated with it are varied and range from friendship to attraction, to a connection that’s so deep there are no words to describe it. It’s not as simple as looking up the word in the dictionary and reciting the definition, “love is a strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties, attraction, affection, warm attachment, enthusiasm, or devotion.” My greatest love is simply indescribable, and that’s true of God’s love for you.
In the verses below, you’ll see the work that’s involved. Bible has a lot to say about friendships. We all need friends! Friendships make us feel good, help us grow, and help us cope.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
The Value of a Friend
Two are better than one,
Because they have a good reward for their labor.
10 For if they fall, one will lift up his companion.
But woe to him who is alone when he falls,
For he has no one to help him up.
